Course Overview
This comprehensive 24-hour course is designed for professionals aiming to achieve UT II Limited certification in A-Scan Thickness. Combining theoretical instruction with hands-on lab exercises, this course ensures participants gain both conceptual knowledge and practical skills required for UT technicians completing A-scan thickness measurements. By the conclusion of the program, participants will be equipped with knowledge and practical experience to advance their careers in nondestructive testing. This course pairs well with the Elios AIIM course , providing learners with nondestructive testing knowledge to elevate their work utilizing the Elios III drone with UT payload.
This course is based on the ASNT Classroom Training Book materials, organized to follow the body of knowledge found in ANSI/ASNT CP-105 and meets the recommendations for training as described in SNT-TC-1A.
Upon Completion, Learners Will Be Able To:
- Explain the basic principles and applications of ultrasonic testing
- Describe the qualifications and certifications applicable to Level I, II, and III personnel
- Define and differentiate between the various modes of sound waves
- Recognize common ultrasonic testing equipment along with functionality of the test equipment
- Explain the role and types of transducers in ultrasonic testing
- Conduct instrument calibration, standardizing, and pretest equipment condition checks
- Utilize various UT materials, including couplant, reference blocks, cables, connectors, and other miscellaneous materials within UT testing
- Explain variables affecting test results, including instrument and transducer performance variations, along with test specimen and personnel variations
- Interpret UT procedures and apply those to hands-on applications
