Course Overview
There are three (3) main ways to avoid or retard corrosion damage: cathodic protection, rust inhibitors, and protective coatings. From those three, protective coatings are the most used. During a coating process, it is crucial to maintain a good nondestructive control to check surface preparation, weather conditions, application, and drying/curing steps as well. This webinar provides an overview of some of the NDT techniques used during the coating process to ensure high quality.
Upon Completion, Learners Will Be Able To:
- Distinguish between those three types of corrosion combat systems.
- Describe how the coatings work to prevent corrosion.
- Identify the phases of a regular coating project.
- Explain the difference between curing and drying processes in a coating.
- Recognize the different types of testing involved and order them by process steps.
- Identify some techniques of NDT present during a coating inspection project.
