Course Overview

The Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Certification Preparation Course (CPC) gives working NDT professionals a focused, on-demand path to prepare for the ASNT NDT Level III UT exam. It also works as a refresher for technicians who have tested before and want to review the material again. Built from a live instructor session, the course pairs exam-aligned review of the ASNT UT Level III Study Guide with Dontea Haliburton’s experience in aerospace and defense, so learners understand not just the definitions, but the reasoning behind the standards. The course covers the essential knowledge needed for ultrasonic testing, including physics fundamentals, instrumentation and equipment, calibration and scanning technique, the codes and standards that govern UT work, and advanced methods such as time of flight diffraction (TOFD), phased array, and guided wave testing. It supports both certification prep and practical, on-the-job application.

Upon Completion, Learners Will Have Covered:

  • The basic principles and theory relating to UT
  • The classes of equipment and materials commonly used in UT
  • Responses typically encountered during the performance of UT
  • How procedural requirements are extracted from specifications and standards

Recommended Materials

This course closely follows a set of reference materials, which we recommend purchasing to support your learning. For in-person classes in Houston, we suggest choosing the eBook versions for easy access and portability.
