Course Overview

This webinar introduces the fundamentals of ultrasonic bond testing for composite structures. Attendees will learn how bond testing differs from standard thickness/flaw UT, explore the major techniques used in industry, including air-coupled, pitch-catch, and mechanical impedance analysis, and gain the practical knowledge needed to select the right method for a given bond configuration and defect type.

Upon Completion, Learners Will Be Able To:

  • Explain the fundamental theory behind ultrasonic bond testing in composite structures
  • Identify the major bond testing techniques, including air-coupled UT, pitch-catch, and mechanical impedance analysis (MIA), and how each works
  • Select the appropriate testing technique and probe type based on bond configuration and expected defect types
