Course Overview
In the NDT world, managers play a critical role in ensuring technical excellence. However, sustained performance depends just as much on how effectively they lead their people. This four-hour workshop equips leaders with practical, field-ready skills to strengthen individual performance, build accountability, and foster a more engaged workforce. If you’re interested in honing your skills as a leader, consider this leadership skills boot camp!
This course includes three segments. The first explores how to have meaningful feedback conversations at work, including how to give and receive feedback that improves performance. The second builds coaching skills that empower team members to think for themselves and take initiative. The third addresses ways to foster team engagement and develop team members who are motivated, resilient, and ready to lean into the work. Across all three segments, participants practice techniques, reflect on current challenges, and develop actionable plans they can immediately apply with their teams.
Upon Completion, Learners Will Be Able To:
- Deliver clear, specific, and actionable feedback using structured communication techniques that address common barriers, reinforce accountability, and strengthen trust in performance conversations.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors that enhance employee engagement by aligning individual strengths and values with organizational goals, recognizing contributions, and creating a motivating and purposeful work environment.
Meet the Instructor
Kyle Payne
Kyle Payne, PhD, is a professional speaker, coach, facilitator, and ASNT NDT Level III. He develops leaders through engaging and highly interactive workshops and has established a strong reputation for fostering a safe and productive learning environment for participants. He is also a published researcher and volunteer in the field of engineering ethics. He specializes in what has come to be called ethical followership, which deals with how engineers respond to an unethical request from a leader. Kyle holds a PhD in human capital management and master’s degrees in philosophy, education, and business..
