Course Overview
Nozzle welds are challenging configurations for phased array inspections. With most software packages, accurate positioning and sizing of indications can be quite complicated. Also, the beam misalignment caused by the so-called “saddle surface geometry” can lead to the missing of critical flaws.
Therefore, design and validation of robust inspection techniques are key to a successful outcome of the inspection. In addition, the scanning mechanism and the phased array probes must be carefully selected and implemented.
If you need to perform nozzle inspections in the Power Generation or Oil & Gas industry, this webinar will provide new insights and clarification about the advanced tools available to solve these challenges.
Upon Completion, Learners Will Have Covered:
- Definition and 3D visualization of the considered nozzle-to-shell weld (CAD file)
- Design and validation of the inspection technique and the scan plan, using ray-tracing, scanner simulation and coverage maps
- Acoustic beam simulation and validation of optimized 2D-matrix array probe assembly
- Inspection of a nozzle specimen with realistic flaws, using a commercially available scanning mechanism, TOPAZ64 and UltraVision Classic 3D
- 3D data visualization and detailed data analysis in UltraVision Classic 3D
