Course Overview
This foundational webinar is designed to introduce the principles of metallurgy and how they are applied in modern engineering and industry. Participants will gain an understanding of the key factors that influence metal properties—including composition, processing, and service conditions—and how these factors affect performance in real-world applications.
The webinar explores how metallurgical principles are used to design safer, more reliable products, equipment, and structures, as well as how they support failure analysis, troubleshooting, and materials selection. Through practical examples, attendees will see how metallurgy helps solve common metal-related problems across industries such as manufacturing, energy, aerospace, and construction.
Upon Completion, Learners Will Be Able To:
- Describe the general factors that influence metal properties.
- Explain how metallurgy is applied to design better products, equipment, and structures and solve metal problems.
- Describe the six metallurgy courses offered by ASNT.
