Course Overview

This comprehensive 24-hour course is designed for professionals aiming to achieve Level II qualifications in magnetic particle testing (MT). Combining theoretical instruction with hands-on lab exercises, this course ensures participants gain both conceptual knowledge and practical skills required for MT Level I & II technicians. By the conclusion of the program, participants will be equipped with knowledge and practical experience to advance their careers in nondestructive testing. This course is based on the ASNT Classroom Training Book materials, organized to follow the body of knowledge found in ANSI/ASNT CP-105 and meets the recommendations for training as described in SNT-TC-1A.

Upon Completion, Learners Will Be Able To:

  • Understand the fundamental principles and capabilities of magnetic particle testing (MT)
  • Explain the laws of magnetism and their applications in MT
  • Identify types of discontinuities that can be detected using MT techniques
  • Demonstrate knowledge of magnetization methods, including circular, longitudinal, and multidirectional magnetization
  • Properly select and use MT equipment, including yokes, prods, coils, and wet/dry magnetic particles
  • Execute test procedures in compliance with industry standards
  • Interpret and evaluate indications to differentiate between relevant and non-relevant indications
  • Apply demagnetization techniques and understand their significance in testing
  • Ensure quality control and compliance with safety regulations
