Course Description

Ever wonder what a petrochemical tank looks like from the inside when drained for magnetic flux leakage (MFL) testing? Perhaps you’re an NDT technician who already inspects storage tank floors for discontinuities and would like to learn about the latest technology that is helping improve accuracy of the results. In this course, you will learn the basics of MFL of storage tanks and become familiar with improvements in technology that are making this method more sensitive to both top- and bottom-surface discontinuities.

Course Objectives:
  • Describe software tools that can improve the performance of magnetic flux leakage inspection of storage tank floors.

NOTE: This learning module is not intended to meet the requirement of CP-105 toward SNT-TC-1A and CP-189 certification of Level I and/or Level II personnel.
