Course Overview
Amusement parks attract millions of visitors each year, and behind the excitement is a system of safety standards, inspections, and nondestructive testing. In this webinar, Ricky Morgan of FlawTech America explains the organizations and regulations that govern ride safety, the ASTM F24 standards that guide design and inspection, and the stages of a ride’s lifecycle from concept to daily operation. Using case studies from Disney, Universal, and other attractions, participants will see how inspection practices and nondestructive testing methods help prevent accidents and extend service life. The session will also cover lessons learned from major incidents and recent updates in inspection requirements, giving attendees practical knowledge to support safer and more reliable amusement rides.
Upon Completion, Learners Will Be Able To:
- Identify the key societies, trade organizations, and regulatory bodies that govern amusement park ride safety.
- Explain the role of ASTM F-24 standards and their impact on amusement ride design, manufacturing, operation, and inspection.
- Describe the phases of an amusement ride’s lifecycle (design, manufacturing, testing, operation) and the associated inspection and NDT requirements.
- Recognize common inspection challenges and lessons learned from real-world case studies, including incidents that influenced regulatory changes.
- Apply concepts of risk-based assessment and inspector qualification requirements to improve safety and extend service life of amusement park rides.
